tolks.ioappears to be defunct and the linked demo no longer resolves. This post is kept as a record of a nice little weekend project I came across at the time.
tolks.io was a small web toy I bumped into in 2017: you typed lines of dialogue, picked who said them, and it stitched the result into something that looked like a group chat between cartoon characters. The output was deliberately silly and very shareable.
What stuck with me was less the app and more the implementation choice — it was built with Vue.js at a point when Vue was still the underdog next to React, and it showed off how quickly you could ship a small, snappy single-page app with it.
